Ship's History |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Costa Fortuna and
sister Costa Magica are developments of Carnival's popular Destiny and
Conquest series of ships. Like the Carnival vessels, the Costa Fortuna was
built in Italy. She is also Italian registered, has Italian officers and
operates predominently out of Italian ports. She is in fact one of the
largest Italian built ship of all time - but, not for long. In 2006, Costa
will take delivery of the 116,000 GRT Costa Concordia. Interestingly despite her name she didn't Costa Fortuna - just $381,000,000 - a snip compared to lead ship Carnival Destiny which cost $400,000,000. Economies of scale !
